Volunteer - Mammals and Birds.

Volunteers in the Sea World Mammal & Bird Department

The Mammal & Bird Department relies on volunteers to assist with everyday support duties in the dolphin, seal and penguin areas. This support is usually needed on weekends and public holidays. Unfortunately, no animal contact can be promised. We also rely on support from volunteers when assisting with stranded animals, animal behaviour observations and special round the clock animal care.

Volunteer Criteria:
* Volunteers must be 16 years and older.
* A swim test must be passed.  The swim test comprises a 200m swim, 10m underwater breath hold/swim, 5 minutes treading water.
* Volunteers must work a minimum of two shifts per month, for a full day.
* Volunteers should preferably live in the greater Durban area.
* Volunteers must be able to speak, write and understand English.
* Volunteers must be in good health. Mammal & Bird Dept Volunteers
