Hippocampus capensis
This seahorse is endemic to South Africa. They can be found in bays or estuaries, amongst the vegetation. This species is listed as endangered on the IUCN Red list and its trade is protected. As with other seahorses, the male becomes pregnant and will give birth to approximately 200 fry. They are active breeders and will give birth around every three weeks.
