Paperfish
Paperfish
Taenianotus triacanthus
Paperfish belong to the Scorpaenidae family. These fish are not very active swimmers and rely on ambush tactics to capture their prey. By blending in with their surroundings, these fish are able to hide from their predators as well as potential prey. This is known as camouflage and it is utilised by many fish. As with most members of its family, the Paperfish has the ability to shed its skin. This allows it to get rid of any algae or parasites which have accumulated on the skin.
