Turtle Lagoon

Turtles come ashore in their lagoon

The Turtle Lagoon is home to some of the most ancient animals alive on Earth, sea turtles, which are under threat worldwide.

These reptiles breathe air, yet are adapted to living in the sea. Five species are found in South African waters, two of which nest on the beaches of northern KwaZulu-Natal.

The turtles share their home with rock cod, barracuda and kingfish.
