GUIDINGS

Book a special guiding and our qualified, experienced volunteers will guide learners through the aquarium in small groups for about 80 min to discuss the uniqueness of each ecosystem shown.
 

COURSES

We offer 3 different courses: Marine Magic, Junior Marine Life Course and Senior Marine Life Course.
These are all 4 hours long and are syllabus based.

MARINE MAGIC for Grades 1, 2, 3

This always includes an intensive guiding through the aquarium, education activities and an optional dolphin presentation.
 
Topics include:

1. Grouping our diverse animals according to their similarities and their differences.
2. Discovering that the animals have body parts like our own.
3. Observing how the animals have needs like us.
4. Seeing which animals we can use for food.
5. Discovering in an easy way how we should conserve them!

JUNIOR MARINE LIFE COURSE for Grades 4, 5, 6

This always includes an intensive guiding through the aquarium, possibly a dolphin presentation, and activities in our Education Centre.
 
Topics include:

1. Discovering different ecosystems, which are homes to animals, just like we have a home.
2. Observing how the animals are adapted to live in their specific habitats.
3. Seeing how some animals move from place to place while others are sessile.
4. Learning which animals eat which animals or plants, and how we eat everything.
5. We stress that the food chain starts with the plants, which make their own food.

SENIOR MARINE LIFE COURSE for Grade 7

This always includes an intensive guiding through the aquarium, possibly a dolphin presentation, and activities in our Education Centre.
 
We studied your syllabus and decided that the following topics will be the best to offer:

1. Classification, to make sense of all the diversity that we have.
2. Threats to our wonderful biodiversity, and how to avoid it.
3. Some of the numerous food webs that we have in our ocean, with man as the top predator.
4. How green plants mean more to us than just the basis of the food chain.
5. Sustainable use of our recourses is always explained in an easy understandable way.

LESSONS

The NPC Sea World Education Centre offers educators a wonderful addition to a visit to Sea World. Choose from a range of 45 minute interactive presentations to give learners a special understanding of the animals they will see. The learners have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss issues.
 
Fishy Fun Puppet Show: Grades R, 1, 2
Meet some of the exciting animals living at Sea World in a fun and informative manner.
 
Who Lives In The Sea: All Grades (Introduction to the Aquarium)
Tailored to Grade specific Natural Science curriculum requirements. This interactive presentation will introduce your learners to some of the interesting creatures seen at Sea World, creating an excellent learning opportunity.
 
Magnificent Marine Mammals: Grades 4 - 9
Our dolphins and seals will delight your learners even more, once they have learnt fascinating facts about these special animals.
 
Classification of Vertebrates and Invertebrates: Grade 7
During an interactive presentation your learners will get a chance to see patterns by sorting animals into groups. Examples of most phyla can be seen in Sea World.
 
Man´s Use of the Sea: Grade 7
Why is the sea important and how is it used? These and many more questions will be answered during this alive, interactive workshop.
 
Although set for different grades, each activity can be adapted to suit your grade level!
We accommodate a minimum of 15 pupils on each activity.
