A special dolphin celebrates his birthday

A special birthday is being celebrated today at uShaka Sea World as Gambit the dolphin officially turns 41.

To celebrate his milestone, festivities got under way on Saturday, 14 July, when Gambit shared his birthday cake with everyone who came to visit.

Since Gambit is one of uShaka Sea World’s most-loved animals, he is well known among generations of visitors. If you’d like to send Gambit a special birthday message, visit our Facebook page, or find him on Twitter.

Better still, show how much you love Gambit by creating a birthday card and posting it at the penguin rookery at the entrance to the dolphin stadium. We’ll be sharing some of the best birthday cards with you.

Gambit is always ready to play

Gambit has been instrumental in educating people about the dangers of ocean pollution since 1976. Almost every day parents and grandparents who met and fell in love with Gambit when they were children, accompany their own children and grandchildren to uShaka Sea World to see this living legend. So not only is Gambit a conservation ambassador, he also brings families together.

Gambit is a magnificent dolphin that has inspired more than 14 million South Africans to fight marine pollution. He is a father and grandfather of a family of dolphins that support him in this worthy cause.
